Both my boys aged 4 & 6 have been with Gracie Barra Lake Country for just over two years and they love it. The after school pickup is great as it gave my 6 year old a sense of independence and now after watching his big brother the little bro is excited to join him in the new year. Trenell and Professor (Andar) are so good with all the kids in the program, they are patient, understanding and make it fun but also set the expectation which is invaluable for their development. Since attending my boys have shown self discipline qnd reaping the benefit of consistent work and training. I knew when, before he could crawl, my 6 month old started taking down my 2 year old, that we would need a form of low contact martial arts in our house. Teaching my oldest how to safely defend himself without hurting his younger brother has been invaluable. I am happy to trade the common sibling hitting, kicking and biting for armbars and chokeholds with appropriate responses to tapping out. Even more important to me is the integration of functional movement and play. They do a fantastic job getting the kids to train functional movement patterns (like crawling), under the guise of playing exterminator or turtle tag. As a chiropractor with a focus on pediatrics and back ground in physical education, I can’t emphasize enough how valuable this is for kids motor and cognitive development.

My 4 year old has never loved an activity or sport as much as he loves Gracie Barra! He asks daily to go. Every night at dinner he wants to show us his push-ups and jumping jacks. Andar is very patient with the kiddos and can command the class as needed in a gentle and kind way. It’s a clean a bright space that I feel comfortable leaving my son at anytime.
